Blastocyst culture is an advanced technique in in vitro fertilization (IVF) where embryos are cultured for 5–6 days after fertilization, allowing them to reach the blastocyst stage before being transferred into the uterus. This stage of development increases the likelihood of successful implantation in a woman with many developing embryos. Blastocyst culture allows embryologists to select the healthiest embryos, improving IVF outcomes. Additionally, it can help with genetic screening and reduce the number of embryos transferred, lowering the risk of multiple pregnancies. This method is often used for couples with specific infertility challenges.
