Intrauterine insemination (IUI) is a fertility treatment where sperm is processed and directly inserted into a woman’s uterus around the time of ovulation, increasing the chances of sperm reaching the egg. IUI is commonly used for couples with unexplained infertility, mild male infertility, or women with cervical issues. The procedure is typically performed after ovulation induction to enhance egg production. Sperm is often washed and concentrated to improve quality and motility before insertion. IUI is less invasive and more affordable than in vitro fertilization (IVF), and it can be combined with fertility drugs to optimize outcomes.
